How files move through the file transfer service
The Integration Hub file transfer service receives a file, checks it for malware and sends it to the right destination. This happens automatically after you upload a file using SFTP or FTPS.
What happens after you upload a file
- Your file arrives in a private receiving area. The service confirms that it has received the exact version that you uploaded.
- The file moves to a secure processing area for a malware scan.
- The scan result determines where the file goes next:
- clean files move to the receiving service’s destination
- files that may contain malware move to quarantine
- files with an unclear or unsupported scan result move to an investigation area
- For a clean file, the Integration Hub can start the configured action or send the configured notification to the receiving service.
At each stage, the service checks that the destination has the exact file that was uploaded before removing the source copy. Your uploaded file is therefore moved through the service; it does not remain in the upload folder after it has moved to processing. The same applies when the file moves from processing to its clean, quarantine or investigation destination.
What you need to do
Wait for your file-transfer client to confirm the upload has completed before closing it. Keep your local copy until the receiving service confirms it has processed the file.
You cannot view, download or replace a file after upload. This protects the integrity of the transfer and helps the receiving service work with the file it expects.
If the receiving service cannot find a file
First check that the upload completed and that you used the correct username, environment and destination folder. Then contact the receiving service with the file name, upload time and environment.

zone, environment and protocol used. Do not share passwords or private keys.
